‘Capacity Building Training in the Field of Town Twinning’, organized with the aim to increase administrative capacities throughout the process of accession to the European Union was launched on Tuesday, June 18 with the opening speech of A. Hakan Atik, Head of Department of Project Implementation, Directorate for EU Affairs.

TWIN Project “Town Twinning Internship Programme” held on 6-17 May 2019 in Barcelona, Spain has been published in the news section of the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) website with the all details, which host the internship programme. Interim Evaluation Workshop in the scope of Town Twinning between Turkey and the EU (TWIN) ended on May 03, 2019.

III. Steering Meeting Committee was held on 24 April 2019, with the participation of representatives from Directorate for European Union Affairs (DEUA), Central Finance and Contracts Unit (CFCU), Union of Municipalities of Turkey (UMT), Union of Provinces (UP) and Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation, Directorate-General of Local Authorities (MeEU-DGLA), as well as Delegation of the European Union to Turkey (observer).

On the fifth and last day of the study visit to Belgium and The Netherlands within the scope of Town Twinning between Turkey and the EU (TWIN) Project, the study visit team was visited VNG International, which is the International Agency of the Association of Netherlands Municipalities and which is a specialised organisation in strengthening local authorities in developing countries and countries in transition.

The last two days of the study visit to Belgium and The Netherlands within the scope of Town Twinning between Turkey and the EU (TWIN) Project was spent in The Hague, The Netherlands. On the fourth day of the programme, April 18^th, 2019, the study visit team was visit the Embassy of Turkey in The Hague. 

The visit to Brussels under the study visit to Belgium and The Netherlands within the scope of Town Twinning between Turkey and the EU (TWIN) Project completed on Monday, April 17th, 2019. The first visit on Wednesday made to the Assembly of European Regions (AER), to which the metropolitan municipalities in Turkey are a party and which aims to improve cooperation among local authorities in Europe.

The study visit to Belgium and The Netherlands within the scope of Town Twinning between Turkey and the EU (TWIN) Project continued in Brussels. The second day of the programme, April 16th, 2019, started with the visit to be made to the European Committee of the Regions (CoR).

The study visit to Belgium and The Netherlands within the scope of Town Twinning between Turkey and the EU (TWIN) Project, which aimed to enhance the knowledge and experience related to town twinning, started with the first visit to Brussels on April 15^th, 2019. 

II. Steering Meeting Committee was held on 15 January 2019, with the participation of Directorate for European Union Affairs (DEUA), Central Finance and Contracts Unit (CFCU), Union of Municipalities of Turkey (UMT), Union of Provinces (UP) and Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation, Directorate-General of Local Authorities (MeEU-DGLA, as well as Delegation of the European Union to Turkey (observer).

Grant Monitoring, Risk Assessment, PRAG Rules and Management Information System (MIS) Training was organized in Ankara on December 11-14, 2018 in the premises of Union of Municipalities of Turkey (UMT) within the scope of “Town Twinning between Turkey and the EU Project”.

TWIN Project aiming to build sustainable structures for sharing information and experience among local authorities in Turkey and the EU member countries involves the capacity building trainings in the field of Town Twinning for local authorities. The second round of the training was held in Ankara on December 11-14, 2018 in the premises of Union of Municipalities of Turkey (UMT).

The second of capacity building training in the field of EU Acquis was in Ankara held on November 27-30, 2018 in the premises of Union of Municipalities of Turkey (UMT) within the scope of “Town Twinning between Turkey and the EU Project (TWIN)” which aims to increase administrative capacity during the EU accession process.

First Steering  Meeting Committee was held with the participation of DEUA, CFCU, and the key stakeholders consisting of the UMT, UP and Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation on 12 October 2018. The meeting was initiated with the opening speech of Mr. Bülent Özcan, Head of Project Implementation.

The first of capacity building training programmes in the field of EU Acquis Chapters was delivered on 11-14 September 2018 in Ankara within the scope of “Town Twinning between Turkey and the EU Project (TWIN)” which aims to increase administrative capacity during the EU accession process.

First Management Meeting was held on 29 May 2018. The Meeting, chaired by the SPO Mr. Bülent Özcan, was held with the participation of the DEUA, the CFCU, and key stakeholders consisting of the UMT and UP, as well as the the EUD, together with the representatives of the TAT members and the Contractor.

The meeting on the inception phase activities was held on 15 May 2018 with the participation of representatives of MoI and MEUA, and representatives of Technical Assistant Team in the Ministry of Interior.

To discuss the project activities, a visit was organized on 10 May 2018 to EUD by the representatives of DEUA and members of Technical Assistance Team.
