The project entitled “Town Twinning between Turkey and the European Union” was co-financed by the European Union (EU) and the Republic of Turkey under the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA II).
The Project was launched on 6 April 2018 and was concluded on 5 December 2020 after an implementation period of 33 months.
The Beneficiary of the Project was the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Directorate for EU Affairs (DEUA), which is the National IPA Coordinator for European Union pre-accession assistance to Turkey. The three key stakeholders of the Project was consist of the Union of Municipalities of Turkey (UMT), the Union of Provinces (UP), and the Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation Directorate-General for Local Authorities (MoEU-DGLA). The Central Finance and Contracts Unit (CFCU) was the Contracting Authority of the Project.
Technical Assistance for the Project was being provided by WYG Türkiye in consortium with WYG International BV, the WEglobal, and VNG International through the Technical Assistance Team (TAT).
Overall Objective
It was to increase administrative capacity at local level in Turkey’s EU Accession process.
Purpose
It was to create sustainable structures for exchange between local authorities in Turkey and EU member States in areas relevant for EU Accession.
Target Groups
The target groups of the project was consisted of the Beneficiary (DEUA) and key stakeholders (UMT, UP and MoEU-DGLA), as well as the local authorities in Turkey and Grant beneficiaries (local authorities from Turkey and EU countries).
