The fourth and last of Capacity Building Training in the Field of Town Twinning which is conducted within the scope of Town Twinning between Turkey and the EU Project (TWIN) was held on 17-20 December 2019 in Antalya with the participation of 54 local authorities representatives from 19 provinces. The ‘Capacity Building Training in the Field of Town Twinning,’ which was prepared for local authorities representatives in order to increase administrative capacity during the European Union accession process, started on Tuesday, December 17th with the opening speech of the Head of Department of Project Implementation, Directorate for EU Affairs, Mr. A. Hakan ATİK.
During the four-day training program, participants were informed about the following issues: Prof. Dr. Birgül Demirtas on ‘Institutional Framework of Town Twinning’ and ‘Learning From Each Other,’ TWIN Project Team Leader Sadun Emrealp on ‘Legal and Institutional Framework of Town Twinning in EU and Turkey,’ İpek Kovancı on ‘Funding Sources for Town Twinning,’ Head of the Project and Finance Unit, Union of Municipalities of Turkey Cemal BAŞ on ‘Thematic Approach to Town Twinning and the Function of Urban Diplomacy’ and International Cooperation Coordinator, Marmara Municipalities Union Burcuhan ŞENER on ‘The Importance of the Works of Marmara Municipalities Union on Local Diplomacy Studies, International Networks and Collaborations.’ In addition, the representatives of Antalya Governorship, Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and Alanya Municipality made presentations on the third day of the training program.
Capacity Building Training in the Field of Town Twinning was concluded as participants received their certificates of attendance.
