Exchange for Municipal Sustainability Strategies Project Reference Number: TTGS/032 Coordinator Beneficiary: Nevşehir Municipality Co-Beneficiary(ies): Neuss-Municipality-Germany – The Association of Development in the Social and Ecological Life in Nevşehir (NEVECO)-Turkey Location(s) of the action : Nevşehir-Turkey – Neuss-Germany Duration: 9 Months Total Budget: 112,728.00 Euro Objective of the Project •To build sustainable structures for exchanging best practice examples between Municipalities of Nevsehir and Neuss in the scope of preventing climate change by protecting environment. Activities / Outputs •A Study visit to Neuss-Germany and a study visit to Nevşehir-Turkey will be organised as part of developing cooperation between Neuss Municipality, Nevşehir Municipality and NEVECO. On the study visits environmental improvement studies and activities will be shared and cooperation areas will be discussed. •Nevşehir's Solid Waste Landfill, the Waste Water Treatment Plant, Waste-to-Energy Plant, and Medical Waste Sterilization Unit will be visited in Turkey while waste incineration facility in Krefeld, a biogas facility operated by farmers, the thermal power station, wind turbines in Neuss-Hoisten, the waste sorting plant, the composting plant and the solar park in Dormagen will be visited in Germany. •Thirty outdoor containers will be placed in neighbourhoods, foursome (separate for glass-metal- paper- plastic materials) indoor containers will be placed in 55 primary, secondary and high schools located in the Nevşehir city centre. •5000 pcs of garbage bag for packaging waste will be provided to users to initiate Separate Collection of Waste at Source practices in Nevşehir. •Environmental Awareness Raising Trainings at Schools will be offered to the students and teachers who are members of environment clubs at 15 primary schools in Nevşehir targeting 1500 students and 100 teachers in Nevşehir. •A Conference on Separate Collection of Waste at Source will be organised at the Cappadocia Arts and Culture Centre in Nevşehir with estimated 500 participants.
